WASHINGTON (December 12, 2006)
– Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) announced
today the selection of Washington, DC-based government relations firm
Van Scoyoc Associates, Inc. (VSA) to join the association's legislative
efforts. VSA Vice President Steve Palmer will lead the team.
VSA
was chosen due to its expertise in the aviation industry through its
work with several ACI-NA member airports, the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Security Administration
(TSA). The firm will assist in developing ACI-NA's government affairs
strategy on airport issues including the upcoming FAA reauthorization.
Deborah McElroy, who will join ACI-NA on Dec. 18 as Senior Vice
President of Government Affairs, will oversee the efforts.
"We
are eager to work with Steve Palmer and his professional team from Van
Scoyoc Associates, Inc.," said ACI-NA President Greg Principato. "Their
competence in aviation policy and issues will be especially critical
during the upcoming FAA reauthorization and will be beneficial to our
airport and associate members."
"We are excited about the
opportunity to work with ACI-NA and its member airports in advancing
their Federal agenda on aviation, homeland security and other important
issues affecting the nation's commercial service airports," said Steve
Palmer, VSA Vice President.
The FAA reauthorization will address
issues of importance to the airport industry including the Airport and
Airways Trust Fund, the air traffic control system and passenger
facility charges. The current legislation is set to expire on Sept. 30,
2007.
