FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, D.C. (March 6, 2008)
— Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) announced today that Scott Weaver has been promoted to Vice President of Government and Political Affairs.  Weaver joined ACI-NA in February 2007 as Director of Government Affairs.

“Scott’s work has been instrumental in ensuring that the airport industry’s position on FAA reauthorization, appropriations and security is well understood on Capitol Hill,” said Greg Principato, ACI-NA President.  “His instincts and skill in the legislative process have helped ACI-NA greatly enhance its legislative outreach.”

Weaver’s promotion is effective immediately.  In his role as Vice President he serves as ACI-NA’s chief lobbyist and manages the Government Affairs Department. He closely monitors congressional actions affecting the aviation industry and works with members of Congress and their staffs, government agencies and other policy makers on aviation-related issues and legislative developments. In addition, Weaver is responsible for the development and implementation of political strategies and initiatives to achieve the association’s legislative goals.

Prior to joining ACI-NA, Weaver worked for three Members of Congress in roles including Legislative Director, Communications Director, and Chief of Staff.  He worked with Committees including Appropriations, Energy and Commerce, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Transportation & Infrastructure, as well as Ways and Means.  Weaver also worked in government affairs at the National Association of Home Builders, as well as for a prominent state and local legislative consulting firm. He has also been active in a number of campaigns at the Presidential, Congressional and Gubernatorial levels.

He holds bachelors’ degrees in History and Political Science from the University of South Carolina.
