KCI Airport Reports February Traffic


KANSAS CITY
, Mo. – March 26 – Kansas City Aviation Department reports that the Kansas City International Airport recorded 640,596 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in February, which represents a decrease of 16.9 percent from February 2008. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 19.3 percent, with a total of 322,419 during February. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 656,763, a decrease of 20.1 percent from the same period last year.

 

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for February was 196. Service was offered to 51 nonstop markets. There was an average of 36,350 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 20.9 percent from last year.

 

KCI recorded air cargo tonnages for the carriers, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, were down 25.2 percent in February. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 23.3 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during February amounted to over 15 million pounds, which represents a year over year decrease of 25.1 percent. Air mail for February was down 26.8 percent from February 2008. The all-cargo carriers reported 5 daily departures for February.
