2008 Marketing and Communications Conference
The ACI-NA Marketing and Communications Conference and JumpStart® Air Service Development Program attracts over 350 attendees and is the second largest ACI-NA event, following the ACI-NA Annual conference. Air service, customer service, marketing, media relations and public relations professionals from both large and small airports attend.
The 2008 Conference theme in Pittsburgh is “Building Partnerships in Evolving Environments.” Keynote speakers include airline CEOs Robert Fornaro, AirTran Airways, among others.
Committee, Working Groups to Meet Sunday, June 22, 3:30 – 5:30 pm
The conference kicks off on Sunday, June 22, at 3:30 p.m. when members are welcome to attend ACI-NA’s Marketing and Communications Committee meeting for an overview on committee activities. The group will split into three working groups: Customer Service and Aviation Education, Marketing and Air Service, and Media Relations, for further discussion and networking. That evening, all participants will meet during the welcome reception.
Conference Topics
Topics to be covered on Monday include an overview on the State of the Aviation Industry, discussion of Airline Mergers and Their Impact on Communities, case studies on Community/Airport Partnerships, Marketing Small Airports in a Big Way and Global Communications Challenges: Environment, Security, Facilitation.
Tuesday’s program will include Legislative and Policy Update Sessions, a session on Branding Your Airport, preview of the 2008 Excellence in Airport Marketing and Communications Contest, a small airport session on Exceeding Your Airlines’ Expectations and highlights of the Media Relations Seminar. The final session will repeat the popular Making the Case to Airlines panel held in 2007, using audience response units for all to participate in the discussion.
Networking and Host Events
Attendees can look forward to the welcome reception on Sunday, June 22, followed by a free evening to explore Pittsburgh’s finest restaurants on Monday, June 23. The Pittsburgh International Airport will be our host on Tuesday, June 24, during the New York Yankees vs. Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, Southwest Flight deck, Pirates Cove, PNC Stadium. This evening happens to the home opener of the Yankee - Pirate series. The Yankees have not played in Pittsburgh since the 1960 World Series, making this a big event for the entire city.
