Special Election Needed to Fill Midwest Seat

Due to the recent resignation of Bruce Schedlbauer, of Grand Rapids, Mich., from the Steering Group of the ACI-NA’s Marketing and Communications Committee, the Nominations Committee is now seeking candidates for a special election.

To maintain a diverse mix on the Steering Group, the committee is seeking candidates from small Midwest airports who handle multiple tasks, including but limited to Media Relations and Air Service Development.

The new Participation Plan adopted last year expanded the Steering Group to 20 airport representatives. The new plan also instituted term limits and other structural changes, including provisions for a special election when there is more than six months remaining in the term.

The candidate elected to fill this position will serve up to four, one-year terms, with the final term expiring December 2015.

Per the Steering Group’s attendance policy it is expected that a member of the Steering Group will attend at least two of the three on-site meetings and participate in 50 percent of the monthly conference calls. The already scheduled on-site meetings include June 4 in Sacramento, Sept. 9 in Calgary and January 2013 in Jacksonville. There are nine anticipated conference calls for 2012, all on the second Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. Washington time.

Any member may nominate themselves or another person for this position.  If you or someone you know would be an ideal candidate, please follow the link to submit your information.

Please fill in the nomination form at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/marcomm_nominations

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, March 8.

The Nominations Committee will endorse one candidate in making a recommendation to the entire Steering Group. The Steering Group can either select the same person or choose a different candidate before submitting the name to the entire Marketing and Communications Committee in March via an electronic ballot. It is anticipated that the election will be concluded and the new member will be able to participate in the April 11 teleconference.
