NTSB Announces 2014 Most Wanted List

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) yesterday unveiled its 2014 ‘Most Wanted List’ of transportation safety improvements.  The list highlights safety issues identified from the NTSB’s accident investigations to increase awareness about the issues and recommended safety solutions.

Although the 2014 list entailed no specific recommendations regarding airports, several of the recommendations pertained to aviation and general modes of transportation.  They include improving general aviation safety by better identifying and communicating hazardous weather information, improving fire detection and response, eliminating distractions related to portable electronic devices, as well as increasing the use of available occupant protection systems.

It’s worthy to note that NTSB’s 2013 ‘Most Wanted’ recommendation pertaining to improving safety of airport surface operations did not make this year’s recommended list.
