The March 2015 Sustainability Newsletter is Hot Off The Press!

The Environmental Affairs Committee Sustainability Working Group has released its ninth Sustainability Newsletter! A big thanks to the Working Group co-Chairs, Paul Manasjan of San Diego International Airport, and Nate Kimball of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, as well as dedicated members, Cynthia Parker of Phoenix Sky-Harbor and Gene Peters of Ricondo & Associates for putting together this newsletter! And of course, many thanks to all the guest contributors - their insight helps to make this publication a great way to stay up to day on the latest sustainability initiatives in the industry!

The March 2015 edition highlights Stephanie Meyn, the Climate Protection Manager for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). In specific, the piece delves into Stephanie's current and completed ground service equipment electrification projects at SEA, as well as her research on alternative fuels, and work towards a climate adaptation plan.

The newsletter also features the wonderful sustainability initiatives of Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport (XNA). XNA has retrofitted its HVAC system, installed LED lighting, and now uses oxygen sensors to moderate the intake of air. To top it off, XNA even has rocking chairs made out of recycled seat belts! Of course, don't miss the Chicago Department of Aviation's Zero Waste Conference Challenge results, the first-ever Airports Going Green (ACG) sustainable fashion show, a guest blog by Jennifer Salerno on the TRB's AV030 annual committee meeting, and progress updates on a number of environmentally-related ACRP projects as well!

Please feel free to share this newsletter with your colleagues, and if you have a feature idea for the next edition, please contact Gene Peters at or Katherine Preston at
