Deadline for Small Airports Air Service Grants is Aug. 2

Recently, the Department of Transportation issues its annual request for proposals (RFPs) for community grants under the Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASD).

The Small Community Air Service Development Program was established under the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century (AIR-21) and reauthorized under the Vision 100-Century of Aviation Reauthorization Act.  The program is designed to provide financial assistance to small communities to help them enhance their air service.  The DOT provides assistance in the form of financial grants that are disbursed on a reimbursement basis.

Appropriations for SCASD are provided for pursuant to Section 1104 of the FY 20112 Full Year Continuing Appropriations Act (P.L. 112-10).  DOT has up to $15 million available for FY 2011 grant awards.

Project deadline applications should be submitted to the DOT no later than August 2, 2011.
