Green Initiatives
The aviation industry is concerned about conservation, recycling, and sustainability – and so is the industry’s trade association.
ACI-NA constantly strives to “green” our meetings and events. Look for these current and coming practices concerning the Boston conference:
Printed materials? As little as possible!
ACI-NA has moved almost exclusively to electronic promotion and marketing of the 2008 Conference & Exhibition. We have decided to use our web site and e-mails to inform our members and attendees about the event instead of printing postcards and brochures.
Our exhibition decorator, Freeman, now provides exhibitor service kits on-line. Hard-copy kits are available only upon request.
As always, we will make session handouts and presentations available in PDF format on our website after the event – not in hard copy at the show.
Instead of printing thousands of copies of the pre-registrant roster and stuffing them in attendee bags, we will e-mail a PDF pre-registrant roster to all attendees in advance of the conference.
Say it with us: Reduce, reuse, recycle!
The Hynes Convention Center has an extensive recycling program in place at the facility. Separate bins for recyclables are available throughout the venue.
You will see bins at the convention center at the close of the show to recycle your badge holders – please take advantage of them!
Instead of bottled water, look for large five-gallon water stations in the meeting rooms and on the show floor.
Wherever possible, we will use china instead of plastic for food functions.
Any excess food will be donated to local food banks, and food that cannot be donated will be composted.
We will keep working on greening our meeting, and working with our partners (the convention center, hotels, and vendors) to do the same. If you have any suggestions, please contact the ACI-NA conference department (meetings@aci-na.org) … we promise we won’t print the e-mails!
