Runway delays? Passengers should have right to deplane

“Airports have long advocated that airline passengers have the right to deplane after an extended amount of delay on a runway,” Greg Principato tells Gary Stoller of USA Today.

The new DOT rules – which will take effect April 29 – will give passengers the right to deplane if it’s stuck on the tarmac for three hours. The rule will require U.S. airlines to coordinate their plans for letting passengers off planes with big and midsize airports. Greg says the airlines should develop such plans with small airports, too.
