Today marks the end of the ACI-NA/ACC/FAA Airport Planning Redefined but only the
beginning of the ACI-NA/ACC/FAA National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Practitioners Workshop in Kansas City, MO. This morning, the two workshops hosted several joint sessions that discussed how to effectively transition a project from the planning process to NEPA. A number of possible airport scenarios were posed to the group and everyone was invited to join into the discussion on what actions NEPA would require and how they could be satisfied.
For the last two days, the Airport Planning Course featured a number of discussions that “dived into the weeds” on project demand, capacity, and project
definition. Updates were also provided by FAA on the upcoming Geographic Information System (GIS), electronic Airport Layout Plan (eALP), and NextGen.
The NEPA Workshop will continue through tomorrow afternoon. Both sessions have been extremely well attended and Kansas City has provided a great venue, even if the temperature right now is only 12 degrees Fahrenheit!
