Joseph Weidlich
Chief Historian, ACI-NA Database Administrator
Joe Weidlich has been with
ACI-NA since 1988. In addition to his
current position as database administrator he is also the association’s chief historian,
undertaking historical research for senior management, board members, and
outside industry requests on past policies and board decisions (e.g., requests
from authors researching airports, ACI-NA members, as well as international trade
associations, etc.).
Weidlich served as the continuity editor for the in-depth technical manual ACI-NA Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Aircraft Familiarization Training Manual (1997). He was also associated with ACI-NA's former Technical Affairs Department for over a decade, prior to which he served as executive assistant for the executive vice president specializing in preparation of board and board committee meeting materials, etc.
Weidlich has written articles for early music and other academic journals; in addition, he has authored eleven music books, the latest focusing on historic jazz guitar styles. Many of his books have been reviewed in national magazines. The Library of Congress has also recognized Weidlich as an expert in the area of pre-Civil War banjo performance practice.
