ACI-NA President Announces Retirement

(Jan. 14, 2005) - David Z. Plavin, President of ACI-NA, informed the ACI-NA executive committee that he will depart his post at the end of the year. The ACI-NA Board of Directors will begin search for a new president shortly and hope to name a successor by June. The ACI-NA Executive Committee has requested that Plavin stay through the end of the year to assist with the process of orienting his successor. Plavin was named ACI-NA President in January 1996.

Passenger Traffic Grows 8 Percent; Cargo Grows 5 Percent in 2004

(May 26, 2005) – ACI-NA announced that more than 1.46 billion passengers traveled through airports in 2004. Both passenger traffic and cargo grew by 8 percent and 5 percent respectively, while total operations increased 1 percent.

Gregory O. Principato Joins ACI-NA as President

(July 8, 2005)-- Gregory O. Principato became President of ACI-NA on July 1, 2005. Among Principato's primary goals for ACI-NA is to expand public, press and policymaker awareness of the vital role airports play in the transportation network, our economy, and our daily lives.

ACI-NA Capital Needs Survey Shows Airports Need $71.5 Billion

(July 27, 2005)—ACI-NA announced that airport capital development costs will total more than $71.5 billion between 2005-2009, with a yearly average of $14.3 billion. This survey, based on the capital development plans of 81 airports representing 81 percent of the total industry passenger activity, includes the cost of all airside, terminal, and landside capital projects, making it the definitive survey of airport development in the industry.

ACI-NA, Member Airports Provide Katrina Relief for Impacted Communities and Airports

(September 6, 2005)-- ACI-NA's Hurricane Action Group (HAG) has been working since last week in response to Hurricane Katrina, as airports across the country continue to provide support for the communities touched by the storm. HAG continues to help coordinate the relief effort by airports across the country who are responding to requests from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) for critical needs, including Law Enforcement Officer's (LEOs), communication equipment (satellite phones), fueling personnel, electricians, crews to install the perimeter fence and temporarily patch the roof, safety equipment, airfield/terminal electricians, operations personnel to assist in their Emergency Operations Center (EOC), generators, provisions, fencing materials, cleaning supplies, roofing materials, and others.
